“The moon lives in the lining of your skin”, says Pablo Neruda in his Ode to a Beautiful Nude…so if you want to shine in the dark, you need to take a really good care of your inner beauty.
Because those words of wisdom regarding the beauty that comes from the inside can easily apply, not only to your soul but to your beauty routine, as well, which, before relying on cosmetics, should be based on what you consume.
Eat healthily, sleep enough, make some sport, relax as much as you can and have a glass of red wine once in a while…this should be the equation which solves all of your beauty problems. Though, this is not enough! The lack or the excess of some vitamins in your body can cause you real problems that will reflect on your skin, making it dull and dry. That’s why you need to find that perfect cocktail of vitamins, minerals, and nutrients that will stimulate your health and your beauty, and include it in your lifestyle.
The A Vitamin, your glowing skin ally
This groups of unsaturated nutritional organic compounds - retinol, retinal, retinoic acid - and several provitamins A carotenoids - most notably beta-carotene, will help you and protect you from the enemies of the dry skin. The vitamin A has always been part of your cells, stimulating the cellular renewal, the immune system, the bones health and having many others important responsibilities in your body. But when it is not enough, it can create real chaos inside: your eyes dry, your nails exfoliate, your hair and your skin become very dry. So, in order to keep the balance, try to include in your daily diet some carrots, eggs, peaches, spinach, pumpkin and oranges. They have plenty of A vitamin for your skin!

Since we got to the food, let’s find out what others vitamins and substances we should eat for a healthy life and a beautiful skin.
Potassium, a key component in every living cell, has its main function to keep fluids from becoming too concentrated or too dilute, a process known as osmoregulation. You can find it in potatoes, tomatoes, bananas, peaches, avocados, cantaloupes and broccoli.
Sodium helps carry nutrients into the cells and distributes water throughout the body (among other things) another plus for your skin. Add it to your diet with pickles, olives, tuna and other species of oceanic fish.
The D Vitamin, oh that sun-addicted element that gives us one more reason to lay on the beach...you can have it extra from cereals and milk products.
The E Vitamin, a powerful, fat-soluble antioxidant that can rejuvenate your beauty, is a real treasure for your skin. It fades scars, its moisturizing property keeps the skin hydrated and helps repair damaged tissue, it fights wrinkles, age spots and even helps by boosting the production of collagen, it treats hyper-pigmentation and dermatitis... There is no way you can miss it if you consume a good spinach salad with olive oil and nuts or sunflower seeds, wheat germ, whole grains, carrots, and corn.
The B Vitamins, known collectively as B-complex, are responsible for the glow of your skin. Since they are water soluble and therefore not retained by the body, it is important that you take in enough of these through diet. You can have it in sunflower seeds and pistachio nuts, tuna, turkey and chicken, bananas or avocados.
